Arecont Vision Unveils Next Generation MegaDome® Cameras at ASIS

Combining Remote Focus, Zoom, and Auto-Iris with Fastest Megapixel Frame Rates

Orlando, FL (September 19, 2011) – Arecont Vision, the industry leader in IP-based megapixel camera technology, announces the new full-featured MegaDome®2 Series of all-in-one H.264 cameras, lenses, and housings, combining remote focus, zoom and auto-iris with the fastest megapixel frame rates on the market.

“Our new line of MegaDome®2 cameras provides innovative features such as Casino Mode to maintain 30 fps recording and Binned Mode to increase the low-light performance of higher-megapixel cameras,” said Dr. Michael Korkin, Arecont Vision Vice President of Engineering. “This next generation of MegaDomes is designed based on feedback from customers’ regarding specific needs. The new domes extend the usefulness of our megapixel cameras to provide simpler installation, the lower overall cost of ownership and faster return on investment in even more applications.”

Arecont Vision MegaDome® 2 AV1255AM is a day/night camera offering 1.3-megapixel resolution at 42 frames per second (fps), and the Arecont Vision MegaDome® 2 AV2255AM provides 1080p full HD resolution at 32 fps. Both cameras offer remote focus, zoom, motorized IR-filter for Day/Night functionality and auto iris and provide Casino Mode to ensure consistent 30 fps recording.

At higher resolutions, the Arecont Vision MegaDome® 2 AV3255AM provides 3-megapixel day/night recording at 21 fps, and the Arecont Vision MegaDome® 2 AV5255AM offers 5-megapixel resolution at 14 fps, both offering a Binned Mode to improve low-light performance. Both dome cameras also provide remote focus, zoom, motorized IR-filter for Day/Night functionality and auto iris. All four dome cameras are available with a heater as a total Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) solution needing no external power for the heater. Auxiliary power (12-48vDC/24vAC) may also be used.

Arecont Vision\'s new MegaDome®2 cameras, being unveiled at ASIS International, use CMOS image sensors and are housed inside IP66 environmentally rated and vandal-resistant domes, each including a die-cast aluminum chassis with a 4-inch polycarbonate dome bubble. Features include an easily adjustable 3-axis gimbal to simplify installation using a 360-degree pan, 90-degree tilt, and 360-degree z-axis adjustments. The PSIA-compliant cameras also have a dual H.264/MJPEG encoder offering 21 levels of image quality. Functionality includes privacy masking and flexible cropping on the camera, multi-streaming, extended motion detection grid (with 1,024 detection zones) and forensic zooming.  Flexible field of view (FOV) cropping enables users to crop to 32 pixels in H.264 or to 16 pixels in JPEG, or to standard resolutions such as QWXGA (AV5255), WUXGA (AV5255 or AV3255), 1080p (AV5255 or AV3255), 720p HDTV, VGA or CIF.

Camera features also include Auto Exposure (AE) and Gain Control, auto backlight compensation, electronic 180-degree image flip and programmable shutter speed to control motion blur.  The MoonLight mode extends exposure and applies proprietary noise cancellation.

Accessories accommodate wall-, pendant-, corner- or pole-mount options; including a wall mount cap, electrical box adapter, junction box adapter and an optional 10w heater kit (for retrofit and on-site installation.
